What's in a name?

Having been alerted to the existence of this village by Sarah & Nick some years ago, we made a short detour off the A38 to take more photos of the sign with our Beth alongside. A large print of this will no doubt be presented to said young person on the occasion that she receives her provisional licence - a day which will no doubt arrive sooner than we think!
The name comes from the village near Jerusalem which is mentioned several times in the gospels as the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. As is the case with the other names we chose for our children, which all turned out to be either Greek, Aramaic or Hebrew, we weren't being particualrly pious, we just liked the names and thought they sounded good together.
Our Bethany is also Rachel, Hebrew for ewe, and the wife of Jacob as detailed in Genesis.
In the interests of equality, I now have three more posts to create!
